Seal Skirt Problems? We have an App for that!
Seal Skirts typically have a problem if you are burning high sulfur coal. These seal skirts will corrode just above and just below the water line. Typically about 18” of the corrugated metal is affected.
For those of you that have the problem, we’d like to introduce you to Belzona 1391 (Ceramic HT).
This repeatable process greatly extends the life of the seal skirt, reducing forced outages. The average life of a seal skirt is seven years, by coating them we greatly reduce the chance of a problem happening at the water line.
A large seal skirt, for example, one that is 100 feet long, is over $150,000 to replace with new stainless steel. To repair with Belzona cost will be about $50,000 - $60,000. The life expectancy of the two applications – be it stainless or Belzona – will last about the same amount of time.
The recoating process is less expensive than the replacement process and we also can be in and out in a week where replacement is four to six weeks on a big unit.
How can we help you repair, protect and improve your component equipment?
